When to supplement with BCAA

Branched Chain Amino Acids or BCAAs are one of the hottest supplements on the market. People always want to know:

"Do BCAA work?"
"When should I use BCAAs?"
"What BCAA should I buy?"

I've recently participated in a great discussion on BCAA, their effectiveness, and use. You can check it out (and you definately want to) over at the JP Fitness Forums.

Mike,

Great post. One advantage to BCAAs I see is that it's easy to swallow BCAA powder mixed in with water (I use Amino Vital powder with 16 ounces of water) first thing in the morning and then go work out in a half hour. If I had anything to eat or drink with any heft to it, including whey powder, I'd feel like crap during my workouts. But the BCAAs don't sit in the stomach, they give me a lot of energy, and they allow me to work out first thing in the morning without being completely fasted.
